Girls varsity Lacrosse LI Class B Championship between the Garden City Trojans and the Rocky Point Eagles
Story:
Long Island Class B Girls lacrosse championship game between the Garden City Trojans and the Rocky Point Eagles on a sweltering Sunday afternoon, June 8th at Stony Brook University's Lavalle Stadium. Garden City opened the scoring and never looked back on their way to a 20-12 victory and their 4th consecutive LI Championship. Erin Brennan and Caroline McTiernan, each scored 4 goals for the Trojans followed by: Shannon Mangini(3), Becky Lynch (2 goals, 6 assists), Dayna DeFliese(2), Brittany Wilton (2 goals, 2 assists),Megan Walters (1), Mikaela Rix(1), and Lauren Terracciano (1 goal, 1 assist). Erin Brennan also had 3 assists. Emily Norell had 2 assists and Caroline McTiernan also contributed with an assist. GC goalkeeper kelly Weis made 6 saves. Leading the scoring for the Eagles was Danielle Vivonetto with 4 goals. Other Rocky Point scoring included: Aimee Capps (3), Kara Mupo (2), Allison Staudt, Brianna Spatarella, and Abigail Ross with 1 goal each. Assists for Rocky Point by: Samantha Mazzeo and Kara Mupo with 2 each and Aimee Capps (1).
