With 34 seconds left in the game and the score tied at 6, Matt Montgomery's second goal of the day turned out to be the game winner as he gave the Garden City Trojans a 7-6 victory over the visiting Ward Melville Patriots in non-league boys lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon, April 8th. The fans were treated to an exciting game as neither team ever had more than a two goal lead. Ward Melville held a 6-5 lead after a goal by Cody Ferraro, then, with 2:20 left, Garden City's Devin Dwyer tied it up for the Trojans, paving the way for Montgomery's game winner. Also scoring for Garden City were: Will Fuller (1), Mike Lind (1), Tom Gordon (1), and Vin Chiodo, 1. Sophomore Brian Coleman logged two assists for the 6-1 Trojans. Chris Connors made eight saves in goal for the Trojans.
Scoring for Ward Melville were: Cody Ferraro (2), Al DeStafano (1), Greg Smith (1), Will Mazzone (1), and Nick Giampalo (1) with assists going to Rich Hurley (1), Chip Pittard (1), and John Edmonds (1). Goal keeper Zach Quinn made eight saves for the Patriots.
