Cold Spring Harbor Beats Seaford 9-8 in Double Overtime

In order to win their double overtime game against Seaford, Cold Spring Harbor needed (other than their previous eight goals, and Greg Hanley's previous six saves) someone to be in the right place at the right time . And that's where Sean Doyle was. With the score tied at 8 in the second overtime against the Vikings in the Nassau County Class C boys lacrosse semifinal game there were about 30 seconds left when Jack Wallice went in for the shot against Seaford goalie Nick Barbuto. The ball rebounded and landed a few feet in front of the goal. Doyle closed in and shuffled the ball into the net for the game winner. It was Doyle's second goal of the game. Earlier in the game, Matt Moynihan put CSH up 8-7 with 6:28 left in the fourth quarter on a pass from Jack Switala. Seaford's Kyle Hemrick answered back with his 5th goal of the game to tie it at 8. The Vikings put pressure on CSH goalie Greg Hanley in the first overtime and fired off a couple of close range shots that Hanley was able to deflect, keeping the Seahawks in the game. The win advances CSH to the Class C final against Manhasset next Wedensday afternoon at Hofstra. Also scoring for CSH: Christian Kennedy (2 goals), Jack Wallice (2 goals, 1 assist), Jack Switala (1 goal, 2 assists), Matt Moynihan (1 goal, 1 assist), and Cam Lee (1 goal, 1 assist). Chris Moriarty added an assist for the Seahawks. Seaford's Kyle Hemrick led all scoring with 5 goals. Also scoring for the Vikings: Ryan Bailey (2 goals, 1 assist); and Billy Kempner (1 goal, 1 assist).
