In the boys lacrosse Class C LI Championship game between the Manhasset Indians and the Mt Sinai Mustangs on Tuesday afternoon, June 9th at Stony Brook's LaValle Stadium. Manhasset jumped out to a 4-1 first quarter lead on goals by Kevin Heenan, Connor English, Zac Koufakis, and Glen Tompkins. Mt Sinai didn't back down and rebounded scoring four goals, including two from Joe Bongiorno in the second quarter and trailed 6-5 at the half. The second half was dominated by the Indians. By the end of the third quarter Manhasset's Connor English had scored two more goals and AJ Diaz added one of his own to give the Indians a 9-5 lead. Each team added one more goal in the 4th quarter, leading to the 10-6 victory for Manhasset. All scoring for Manhasset: Connor English (3 goals, 2 assists); Kevin Heenan (2 goals), Zac Koufakis, (2 goals, 2 assists); Glen Tompkins, 1 goal; A.J. Diaz, (1 goal); and Jeff Molinari, (1 goal). Jeff Izzo added two assists for the Indians as goalkeeper Jack Meyer made 5 saves. Mt Sinai's Joey Bongiorno led all scoring with 4 goals, followed by teammates Shane Henry and Ray Diaz with one goal each.
