Story:
Garden City, NY October 24- It was Homecoming, the forecast was dismal and the Garden City Trojans were looking to continue their unbeaten streak. The Carey Seahawks, a longtime rival who beat the Trojans in game two of the season last year, wanted to prove that their potent offense, including All County player Greg D'Arienzo, could run through one of Nassau's stingiest defenses (the Trojans have only given up three points all season). Most of that did not come to fruition as the rain wasn't as bad as expected and Garden City rolled over Carey 28-0 holding D'Arienzo to 67 yards on 14 carries. It was the first time this season that D'Arienzo didn't score two touchdowns in a game.. Trojans QB Matt Montgomery was 8-for-13, passing for two touchdowns and running for another. His first TD pass came late in the first half after Brian Fischer recovered a Carey fumble. Montgomery connected with Kevin Dachille to put GC up 7-0 and hit Dachille again to end the first half with a 14-0 lead. In the third, and with the Trojans threatening yet again, Montgomery ran in for another TD. Stephen Jahelka took the ball for a 42 yard run in the 4th quarter and with kicker Topher DiBona perfect on extra points GC went on to the 28-0 shutout-----Garden City Trojans 2009 Varsity football roster includes: Tom Adams, Kyle Minerva, Matt Montgomery, Topher DiBona, Joe Tursi, Kevin Dachille, Andrew D'Antonio, Jimmy Kenny, Tom Gordon, Mark Ellis, Connor Cortese, Robert Savage, Patric Berkery, Andrew Calabro, Liam Kennedy, Eugene Berkery, Mike Borges, Chris Stapleford, Conor McDonnell, Brian Fischer, Bryan Carney, Stephen Jahelka, James Wright, Joe Visentin, Mike Giannone, Scott Conetta, Matthew Slovensky, Billy Allen, Anton Dobrolezhin, Brendan Logan, Joseph Gentile, Dan Losardo, Jack Hughes, Peter Cline, Connor Horl, John Karikas, John Bock, Drew Locurto, Billy Sweeney, Jack Spencer, Thomas Fex, Matthew Confort, Andrew Connors, Tom O'Brien, Scott McElroy, Jared Mitchell, Griffin Eilbeck.
