When two highly skilled, evenly matched boys lacrosse teams compete, most fans would assume that they will witness a good game. Friday's game between the host Garden City Trojans and the Wantagh Warriors proved just that..and more. Although GC took an early 3-0 lead on goals by Tom Gordon, the Warriors never gave up and tied the score before the end of the first quarter. Each team showed their determination throughout the game, never allowing the other to take a big lead. After Wantagh's James Bonanno tied the game in the fourth quarter an OT period was needed. With the score still tied the game entered it's second OT. Wantagh's Brandon Mangan scored the game winner 1:53 into the second extra period to give the Warriors the 10-9 victory. Scoring for the Warriors: Brandon Mangan, 4 goals/1 assist; James Bonanno, 3 goals; John Ingrilli, 2 goals; Matt Balzano, 1 goal/2 assists. Goalkeeper Jake Gambitsky made 21 saves.
