Garden City Trojans defeat Mepham Pirates 15-3 in first round of boys lacrosse playoffs

In the first round of the Nassau Class B boys lacrosse playoffs the Mepham Pirates traveled to Garden City to take on the Trojans at Warren King Field on Wednesday afternoon May 19th. The Tojans jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter but if not for the many great saves by Mepham goalkeeper Brandon Lazarus (20 total saves in the game) the Trojans might have been up by even more. By the end of the first half GC had an 8-1 lead. The Trojans would go on to win 15-3 and will play Long Beach in a quarterfinal game at Hofstra next Tuesday night. Garden City's Dan Losardo led all scoring with five goals. Other scoring for GC includes: Tom Gordon, four goals; Devin Dwyer, two goals/two assists; Liam Kennedy, one goal/ three assists; Jack Spencer, one goal/one assist; Matt Montgomery, one goal; Scott McElroy, one goal; Patric Berkery, two assists; Matt Confort, one assist; Stephen Jahelka, one assist; Brian Coleman, one assist; Skye MacLeod, one assist. Garden City used three different goalkeepers in the game. Alex Castronovo made one save, Dan Marino made three saves and John Bock made one save.
