Varsity and JV wrestling action at Garden City High School Wednesday evening as the boys from Garden City took on Calhoun.
The Garden City Varsity Wrestling Team has had some huge victories over the past couple of weeks. On Sat. 1/13 they beat 12 other teams at the Wheatley tournament. Garden City had five individual champions; Senior Co-Captain David Foxen at 130 lbs, Junior Nick Preziosi (voted the Outstanding wrestler) at 135, Senior Chris Zingalli at 152, Senior Co-Captain Luke Mitchell at 189 and Junior Spencer DeSena at 215. Finishing second were Joe Barbato 96, John Wittman 103, Danny Lofrese 112 and James Roth 119. Finishing third were Mike Lofrese 96, Roy Salsinha 140 and Steve Marino 145.
In dual meet action the team has had very significant wins over perennial powers Massapequa, Long Beach, Wantagh, and Calhoun. The entire team is pumped for the home dual meet on Friday 1/20 at 4:15 in the high school main gym versus Bellmore JFK.
