Garden City Trojans Defeat Plainedge Red Devils 2-1 in First Round of Nassau Boys Soccer Playoffs

The Nassau County boys high school soccer playoffs started on Friday afternoon October 28th for the Garden City Trojans and the Plainedge Red Devils. The Trojans traveled to Massapequa to take on the Red Devils at Plainedge High School for this Class A playoff game. Entering this game, the Trojans had won six of their last nine games, including two ties, to finish the regular season at 9-2-2 in Conference A-IV. The Red Devils finished their regular season at 7-4-2 in Conference V after winning their last four games of the season. Garden City jumped out to a 1-0 first half lead on a goal by John Chtchekine off an assist from Sean Bingham. With 28:45 left in the game, Bingham scored off an assist from Chris Skorr as the Trojans went on to win 2-1. GC goalkeeper James Pyatsky made three saves in the match. the Trojans advance to the next round where they will take on Island Trees (who advance after defeating Manhasset) on Tuesday afternoon November 1st.
