Garden City Boys Lacrosse Defeats Division Blue Dragons 11-3 in First Round of Playoffs

It was the first round of the playoffs and it was also Senior Day for the 18 seniors on Garden City High's boys lacrosse team. Before the first round playoff game against the Division Blue Dragons began, 17 of the 18 boys (Skye MacLeod, was not able to be there as he was recovering from surgery) were met on the field by their parents and then gathered for a group photo as this was the last game that these boys would ever play on Warren King field. This season's graduating seniors include Devin Dwyer, Liam Kennedy, Anton Dobrolezhin, Dan Marino, Rob Savage, Ryan Norton, Mike Comiskey, PJ McGovern, Conor McDonnell, Mike Lofrese, Mark Ellis, Skye MacLeod, Patric Berkery, Eugene Berkery, Chris Harder, Elias Georgas, Pat Niebler and Andre Stone. After the pregame photo ops, both teams took their positions on the field and play began. Garden City, (16-0) went on to defeat the Blue Dragons 11-3. Justin Guterding had one goal and four assists in the first half to lead No. 1 Garden City over No. 16 Division in the first of Nassau Class B Playoffs. Garden City will face the winner of No. 8 Jericho and No. 9 South Side in the quarterfinals on Friday, May 18 at 6:30 at Hofstra. GC's Matt Cortese, in goal for the first half, made six saves. Danny Dolan took over in the second half and made 5 saves for the Trojans. Ryan Gaspari made 7 saves for Division.
